I had the chance to drop by the new H-E-B on FM 1463 and Cinco Ranch yesterday and was very impressed by it. It is a beautiful store with a unique floor plan different from other H-E-B’s that I have been in. Unlike the other H-E-B’s where the produce, bakery, deli and meat and seafood departments all seem to be crammed together in one part of the store, the new store separates them. When you enter the store there is a vast produce section with the meat and seafood counter just past this. The bakery, deli and cheese departments are together on the opposite side of the store which allows the store to feel more open. Across from the produce is the “Meal Simple” area. Where other stores have a small refrigerated case for H-E-B’s signature prepped meals this store has a complete department devoted to them with a vast selection of quick and easy to prepare meals and already cooked chicken.

Beyond the meat department is the wine and beer section with an extensive selection of wine, imported and domestic beers as well as a large selection of craft beers. They also have a wine station where you can sample the different wines from all over and a large selection of already chilled wines which I have noticed other H-E-B’s lacked. On the opposite side of the store is a large deli and cheese department followed by the bakery. The bakery is the largest I have seen with a huge selection of desserts and two really neat looking open cases sitting in the middle of the aisle that hold donuts and other pastries. The perimeter aisles are extremely wide which I found refreshing as I have always hated trying maneuver down the back aisle of the H-E-B on Fry road, on weekends it is equivalent to being in rush hour traffic in Houston. Overall the footprint of the store feels large and inviting and in turn makes the shopping more enjoyable. So if you haven’t had an opportunity to shop there yet I highly recommend checking it out.
